ABOUT Continental Screens

The Kariba Awning brand is manufactured by Continental Screens Limited.

Continental Screens (1988) Ltd was formed in February 1998 by Graeme Bellingham, John Keatley and Paul Booth to purchase the business and assets of a small fibreglass company Continental Screens Limited.

The only product of the company at that time was a range of translucent fibreglass panels which were marketed for shower doors, interior screens, deck enclosures or fencing applications. The panels could either have a decorative design imprinted in them from a selected range or be tinted to a variety of colours. This range of products is still manufactured by Continental Screens today.

In 1990 the shares of John Keatley and Paul Booth were purchased by Graeme Bellingham and a programme of product and market development was initiated.

In 1992 Kariba Roofline was launched as a conservatory roofing product and in 1995 Kariba Fibrecore was introduced to provide a general purpose solid glazing panel for the Aluminium Fabrication industry.

In 1999 an agreement was reached with Mulford Plastics for Continental Screens to be responsible for the national marketing and distribution of a new awning product which Mulfords were introducing in to the New Zealand market. It became apparent very quickly that only offering a limited range of 3 sizes and 2 colours was never going to meet the New Zealand awning market requirements or achieve the potential of the product. In March 2001 Continental Screens purchased the property, dies and the manufacturing rights from Mulfords.

Today the Company offers a standard range of 3 widths, 2 depths, 8 frame colours and 3 infill options. In addition, special colours and sizes are produced to meet customers individual requirements.

The Company is now also able to offer design and build services for larger awnings to cover decks or patio areas. The Company is still under the sole ownership of Graeme Bellingham who is assisted by a small team of dedicated and enthusiastic employees. The production team is headed by Rex Broad who has been with Continental Screens since the mid 1990's.
